A walk around Binning Wood and after lunch a short drive to Smeaton Gardens and a look around the lake there. There is lots of parking at the overflow car park, and it is a very short walk to the lake passing a few notable trees.
Smeaton lake is part of the National Arboretum. The unusual trees being labelled. It is only a short walk around the lake, however there is plenty to explore.
Check advice page for field trip guidelines. Consider carrying a stick/trekking pole to help negotiating some rough ground or when leaving a path.
