WHITTINGEHAME ESTATE

old yew

IN DETAIL

A visit to Whittinghame Estate; including the arboretum and yew, and a walk along the Whittingehame Water and woodlands. This was the home of Alice Blanche Balfour (1850-1936), Katty has been studying the moths here and comparing her findings with those of Alice.

Katty volunteers at the National Museum of Scotland, mostly organising the moth collection; reach her blog by following the link.

This is a private estate and the owners have kindly allowed us to visit. Please stay with the group.

Check advice page for field trip guidelines. Consider carrying a stick/trekking pole to help negotiating some rough ground or when leaving a path.
