Walled garden

A visit to see the newly restored area at Saughton Park which includes a loop of the Water of Leith. Otters and water rail were regularly observed over the winter, and a good location for several species of ladybird and water flies.

There is a small car park and good access by public transport. There is a larger car park which is accessed from the Stenhouse area (details to follow). Best access is by public transport, Lothian Buses 30, 38, 22, 25, 3 and 33, and the tram.

As part of a longer day out the Water of Leith Walkway passes through Saughton Park.

Check advice page for field trip guidelines. Consider carrying a stick/trekking pole to help negotiating some rough ground or when leaving a path.
