Summer Excursions 2018 Notes

Important Notice re. Excursion on 28 July 2018

-NB bus leaves from nth side of St Andrew Sq, not from bus station as stated in previous email.

As the leader is indisposed it has been agreed to cancel the outing at Williamhope on 28 July and replace it with a walk from Dalmeny Station to Cramond Brig via the Dalmeny Estate. The walk should be around 6 miles, and one of the main objects is to count the field gentians which grow at Hound Point. ENHS has been responsible for monitoring the numbers of this rare plant for around 18 years, and the numbers have varied from none to over 700.

Other walk details are as follows:

Meeting place: Dalmeny Station Car Park NT138779
Time of departure 10:30

Requirements: Suitable clothing and footwear and packed lunch

Train departs from Edinburgh Waverley at 10:09 and arrives Dalmeny 10:25

Lothian Country Bus no. 43 departs from north side of St Andrew Square at 09:45 and arrives Dalmeny Station around 10:25.

Those wishing a shorter walk can return to South Queensferry from Hound Point, or follow an estate road to leave Dalmeny Estate by a shorter route (please bring a map).

Please note that excursions can be changed or cancelled - details from committee members or our website, Facebook or Yahoo sites.  Changes may also be announced at Wednesday indoor meetings.  Please check before setting out.

If you wish to share a car or can assist with providing transport, please contact a committee member or use our Yahoo or Facebook sites.   Sharing vehicles is environmentally sound and is encouraged by Council.

Non-members, with the agreement of the leader, may participate in outings.

Please see notes below regarding safety, clothing and other aspects of excursions.
