FIELD TRIPS

The NATS organise two main types of event - indoor meetings and field trips.

Most indoor meetings are open to non-members. Find out more about indoor meetings

Field trips are mostly led by members but sometimes by specialists in a particular theme. The experts usually have a broad interest in nature and relate their speciality to other areas of study.

Field trips take place weekly from April to the end of September each Saturday and often a shorter weekday trip, and once a month for the remainder of the year. Additional trips may take place and will be publicised via the website members' area. Rarely, a trip needs to be cancelled or changed and members will be notified by email.

Field trips may sometimes be reached by bus or train. Car sharing is encouraged. If you would like to travel with someone contact us via the contact page or by phone.

Additional trips may include:

  • coach trips - book in advance
  • train journeys from a named station with departure time
  • boat trips - book in advance
  • weekend or midweek residential trips

Non-members are welcome to attend fields trips and should introduce themselves to the leader. A couple of trips should help you decide whether the Nats is for you.
