Gannets diving

Speckled Wood (Pararge aegeria)
Aptly named as it likes shaded woody areas. It's range spreading to recolonise parts of Scotland

Samphire or Common Glasswort, Heckies Hole
Still collected and sold as a vegetable in coastal markets.

Resting but watchful Dunlin, Tyninghame.
Our commonest small wader : breeds from the High Arctic to Scottish moors.

Photos by Neville Crowther and Joanie McNaughton.
