A general interest easy walk under 5 miles.
Car share - meet at Hermiston P&R 9:30.
Ex industrial coal and ironstone mining site. Within the River Kelvin flood plain with mixed habitat of wetland, woodland, heath, riverside. Good selection of birds on the recce.
Check advice page for field trip guidelines. Consider carrying a stick/trekking pole to help negotiating some rough ground or when leaving a path.
