HAILES QUARRY PARK AND UNION CANAL WALK
(This event has already taken place)

Park view

IN DETAIL

A walk including the Union Canal towpath and Hailes Quarry Park. A good time to see how our natural heritage copes with winter.

This mid-winter walk may be adjusted to suit prevailing conditions.

NOTE: This will be a linear walk and will come close to roads to allowing access to bus/train routes.

The Water of Leith Visitor Centre is on several bus routes but parking is limited in the area. Westside Plaza is on several bus routes but only the Lothian 20 will take you back to Water of Leith visitor centre and Chesser ONLY, not into town.

The visitor centre opens at 10am and serves refreshments if you want to arrive early.

A likely end point will be Westside Plaza where there is a cinema that serves refreshment.

Check advice page for field trip guidelines. Consider carrying a stick/trekking pole to help negotiating some rough ground or when leaving a path. For a walk in January icy footpaths need to be considered in choosing footwear, extra caution is required when walking over the aquaduct.
