An easy walk of about 5 miles and mainly botanical interest. Meet at end of cycle path by pedestrian crossing by Tesco entrance.

An old oil shale bing and peat workings. There will be a mix of habitats which can be viewed from a level tarmac path or by leaving the main path.

The X18 Lothian Country Bus runs a fast and regular service from Central Edinburgh to the meeting point.

Toilets and coffee shop at the Tesco Shop.

Check advice page for field trip guidelines. Consider carrying a stick/trekking pole to help negotiating some rough ground or when leaving a path.
