THE STORY OF HAILES QUARRY PARK
(This event has already taken place)

Canal walkway

IN DETAIL

Abby Boultbee, Greenspace Trust Edinburgh, will tell us about the Hailes Quarry Park and what it means to the local community. It is a large area between the Union Canal and Longstone bus depot with a mosaic of varied habitats and activities for visitors. The area has an interesting past including a quarry providing stone for some of the buildings of the New Town, brickworks, land-fill and now many things.

Hailes Quarry Park will be visited by the Edinburgh Natural History Society during the first field trip in 2020 when it will be seen how the area fits in with the landscape of Edinburgh.

The talks are free and open to all, a small charge is made for refreshments. Please register to attend this event.

The talks are held in the basement down a flight of stairs, there are toilets in the basement. If you require level access it is possible to enter via the fire exit at the rear of the building. Ask to be dropped off at the rear of 33 Melville Street accessed from Chester Street and Melville Street Lane. There is parking in Melville Street in the evening but little space behind the Guide Hall. Taxi companies are usually familiar with accessing this venue. Please contact us if you would like further information.
